Ask me anything

A random collage of things I think about and dream of.
Up In The Air Web Site

At work there has been a lot of focus on ‘brand building’. With this in mind I thought about how little time a film has to produce and impression of a brand on the user; the best site I’ve found so far is this - the site for ‘Up In The Air’.

There are days like today when I sit in my house, watch a bit of tele, go for a run and generally do nothing. On these days I wish I was still in India or America, exploring.

Invictus - William Ernest Henley

Mandela had the poem written on a scrap of paper on his prison cell while he was incarcerated. The legend goes that Henley’s words inspired Mandela to promote peaceful forms of protest despite the obvious temptation to violently rebel against those who in his opinion, had wrongfully enslaved him.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
